Quote of the Night: “The effort, the energy, the passion, just that competitiveness you need, it just wasn’t there tonight.” Kurt Rambis

Well there it is Wolves fans. The worst start in franchise history. Two more losses and they’ll equal the franchise worst 16 game skid. Not too much to say about this one other than I find it interesting that Rambis continues to say the team doesn’t play with enough energy. Certainly I can understand them not having built up enough mental toughness and having lapses of frustration at times but I’m not sure you can keep saying they aren’t playing hard. I thought they played pretty hard tonight, even early, yet they just don’t have anywhere near the same firepower the Nuggets have. At some point you just have to admit you have junior varsity talent in a varsity league.

Quick Hits before I turn in tonight with dreams of Thanksgiving Turkey:

  • Big props to Corey Brewer who gets tonight’s proverbial game ball. If he can play like this every night I’ll be his biggest supporter from here on out. Awesome job on the boards tonight. That’s exactly what this team needs. I only saw 2 forced shots and two of the other misses were pretty good looks. The rest all came at the hoop which is exactly where we want him. Nice work Corey, keep this up and I won’t have to post anymore shot charts.
  • Welcome to the offense Ryan Hollins. If you’re going to knock down the turnaround 10 footer like that then please by all means keep shooting.
  • Al showed tonight that he’s still got some ways to go before he’s the Al of old. That being said the Denver frontline is a very underrated one on the defensive side of the ball.
  • Best play of the game: Ramon Sessions and Brian Cardinal’s pinch-post, give and go, pick and roll backdoor for the easy lay-up. Jim Petersen showed it on a replay but I’ll try and post later if I can get it downloaded and converted. It was really pretty basketball.
  • Anyone else not see any problems with the Flynn+Sessions line-up? I actually thought they looked like they even had a little chemistry out there for not ever getting any run together.
  • And in honor of Thanksgiving I’d like to echo Mike McCollow and Jim Petersen in being grateful for having an NBA team in our hometown. Even though I’m not in Minneapolis currently I’ll take a 1-14 rebuilding squad over none at all 12 times out of 10. I love the NBA and basketball played by the best players in the world and am very grateful to have my Wolves to cheer for, 14 losses in a row or not. Let’s Go Wolves!

The two beest players on the team are either injured (K Love) or still recovering (Big Al) and the two best guards must play together better. It is tough, but the team is finding its way and will take lumps. Could be worse – could be a Nets fan!
