Trade Contest deadline is approaching

A few weeks back, I gave you guys the opportunity to win a couple tickets to the Feb. 23rd game against the Memphis Grizzlies to the person who comes up with the best AND most realistic trade that the Wolves could possibly make before the deadline.

I’m just telling you now that you have less than a week to get your trade ideas into me before I pick a winner. I already received tons of great ideas, but things have changed a bit, trade value has dropped; I need newer, fresher ideas!

So, keep it coming, guys, and I’ll post a winner on Jan. 31st!

About Jonah Steinmeyer

Been a Wolves fan for probably way too long to be considered a sane human anymore. An avid golfer in my free time. I cheer for Minnesota sports but live in Florida.

This is basically a repeat of my previous trades, but these are the two trades that i think are very feasible and/or really need to happen for all teams involved. Trade #1 gives: NYK - First round pick (either Utah's pick or a 2012 pick) MIN - Anthony Randolph I previously discussed how much Randolph would help our team, so i won't go back into it. Trade #2 gives: MEM - Johnny Flynn, Anthony Tolliver MIN - OJ Mayo http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=62q4yoh Desperately in need of cap relief i'd be tempted to offer Flynn for Mayo straight up, but at this point i don't think Flynn carries enough value, possibly throw in some cash if we trade only Flynn. Maybe if we see some significant improvement in Flynn the next few games, but probably not. I would also be willing to deal Wes in the deal, but i think we could get it done without losing him. At this point Memphis seems very eager to get Mayo out for cap relief as they try to resign Gasol this summer, and are basically fed up with Mayo. I truly think both of these trades could happen, in fact i am fairly confident that if we actually offered them they would be accepted. Landing one of these trades would be good, but i think completing both trades would be great for our franchise. I am very keen on Rubio surrounded with Mayo, Beasley, Love, Darko/Randolph....those are some good shooters to kick the ball out to, or darko for a tricky dish for a one step and slam!

I like it. But we do have all the leverage in the situation. We may be able to get more than that out of Rubio. Also you can't put all your pennies into the Kyrie Irving bank. I'm sure you know of the Timberwolves lottery history...@Love4MVP

Due to recent Rubio talks i thought i'd float an idea out there. I wouldn't necessarily want to give up Rubio before he even arrives, nor would Kahn, but this is just in case that NYT article holds true and he really does want "out" of minni before he even arrives. Trade gives: NYK - 1st round pick (preferably Utah's), Rights to Rubio (PG) MIN - Anthony Randolph (PF/C/SF), Landry Fields (SG) I would see if NY would also throw in Toney Douglas (PG) The Knicks have already mentioned they will trade Randolph for a first round pick in the next week or so, if anything we need to at least make that trade. I would like Landry joining our roster very much, and if this trade helps facilitates Melo arriving in NY the Nug's have already said they don't have interest in Fields. Both these players would help our roster, then if all the stars aligned (which they never do) we could get lucky in the lottery and wind up with Kyrie! 1. Kyrie / Ridnour / Do i dare mention it... Flynn 2. Fields / Brewer / Ellington 3. Beasley / Wes / Webster 4. Love / Randolph 5. Darko / Randolph / Pek I like it!
